01/Introduction

Introduction

Hurst Constructions QLD, a Townsville-based commercial construction company delivering complex projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and tourism sectors throughout North Queensland, sought to modernise their vendor compliance and onboarding processes. They turned to TradesField, a vendor compliance platform built for the construction industry, to replace manual email workflows and integrate directly with their accounting system. With a focus on automation and seamless integration, TradesField offered Hurst the tools they needed to manage hundreds of vendors efficiently.

02/Challenge

Challenge

Hurst Constructions QLD faced ongoing inefficiencies with their previous vendor management process, which relied on email back-and-forth and manual data entry. Onboarding a single vendor often required multiple follow-up emails to collect insurances, licences, and compliance documents, with details then manually input into their accounting system. When vendors didn't prioritise the request, onboarding could drag on for weeks, leaving gaps in compliance visibility. Hurst needed a solution that could centralise vendor onboarding, automate compliance monitoring, and integrate cleanly with their accounting platform.

03/Solution

Solution

TradesField provided the right fit by offering a purpose-built platform for vendor compliance in construction. As part of upgrading their systems, Hurst migrated from JobPac to Premier and rolled out TradesField alongside the migration. Vendors now submit their own details, insurances, and licences through a single invite, with the information syncing directly into Premier. TradesField also monitors compliance expiry dates automatically, replacing manual reminders and spreadsheet checks.

04/Strategy

Strategy

To implement TradesField effectively, Hurst focused on leveraging the platform's key features:

  1. Self-service vendor onboarding

Vendors complete their own submissions through a single invite, removing manual data entry and email chasing.

  2. Direct Premier integration

Vendor data syncs straight into Hurst's accounting system, ensuring consistent records across both platforms.

  3. Automated compliance monitoring

Insurance and licence expiry is tracked automatically, with vendors prompted for updates when documents are due to expire.

As a result, Hurst saw a significant improvement in operational efficiency, with vendor onboarding times dropping from weeks to as little as 10 minutes per vendor.

“The email back-and-forth used to drag on for weeks if a vendor didn't prioritise it. Now it's done in minutes. The time saved is the biggest thing for us.”
